If you do a 4710HQ vs 4720HQ benchmark test you'll see the 4710 perform better than the 4720 in almost all areas even with the 4720's +.1Ghz speed difference. The ability to overclock the processor without generating too much heat always impresses me. The i7 4710HQ is still one of my favorite CPU's out there.

If it had more than 2GB of GDDR it would have easily beat the three aforementioned GPU's. The GTX 860M (Maxwell) is a great GPU and out performs the GTX 950M and keeps up with the GTX 960M. Of course this isn't going to perform nearly as well as the RoG G751 JY model, but that is to be expected. Overall Review: Okay so my overall impression is that this is a great machine for under $1000.00. So with a 16gb bundle you end up with 24gb, now that isn't bad, but it would have been nicer to have 16 (+16 that are easier to access). There are 4 ram slots, 2 of which you have to take the case apart from and that is where the 8gb stick is located. The Z version comes with 32, it would have been an epic machine if it came with 16. Like other said, the 1tb 5400rpm hdd is slow, but I put a HyperX 120gb SSD in so that fixed that.Īlso 8gb of DDR3L is kind of thin in my opinion. I've gotten used to having them on the left rather than right, but that is so minor I didn't let it effect my 5 egg rating. The only thing I hear on boot-up is the optical drive spooling up to check if there is a disc.Ĭons: Only thing I don't like about this is the location of the inputs. Screen size is perfect, the sound is pretty good for factory and the built in sub helps it sound a lot better. I haven't installed my PCMark 8 onto it yet to see the exact benchmarks on a slightly overclocked machine, but I'm sure it is performing as good as it feels. Pros: Out of the box fast, with a little tweeking and a few upgrades this machine is fast.

Games and the desktop looked too small in full 1920x1080 on a 15.1" screen. I was having a very long debate between the 15 and 17 inch models but after getting the 17 I know I made the right choice. I wasn't sure how big of a risk buying refurbished would be but this thing came to me pretty much brand new except the little ASUS goodie bag of microfiber cloths and such. Overall Review: I wasn't sure how this laptop would fair against a previous one I tried for a few days but I already know I like this one far more than the last brand I tried. I do realize this is because it's a 17.3" size but like I said it's just a growing pain. Mostly its the F keys that I accidentally use because they don't feel much different than the number keys when you're making fast input through games and whatnot. The keys are spaced a bit more than I'm used to and has taken time to get used to it when gaming. The only design I'm not tickled about is the keyboard. It's heavy for a reason but honestly I don't transport it around a lot so not a big issue.

I thought the large screen bezel was going to bother me but when you're using it you don't notice it. I love the touch pad design albeit my left palm triggers it alot when typing without a mouse.Ĭons: Nothing here is a deal breaker. The laptop itself looks amazing with the matte finish on top and glowing logo. Games look fantastic on the panel they used for this.

Can barely hear any fan noise thanks to the great design from ASUS.
